Around last month my cousin from my hometown-Medan, Winny Putri Lubis, (or as what I called her, Puthy) visited me in KL for a short getaway
She stayed at my apartment for around 4 days
The last time she was here together with me was back in 2014, I remembered distinctively because she came right when I was preparing to apply UK visa for my trip to London.
Well, knowing her as one of the social media influencer, the weekend was filled with random Instagram stories and within a few shoutout from her, my Instagram impressions spike into almost 7 digit (⁎˃ᆺ˂)
We started the weekends with what any millennial do, chilling in Starbucks (and boomerang-ing our fraps) while catching up (read:gossiping) about people we mutually know.
And of course we also did a lil bit of shopping in Pavillion KL and catch a movie afterwards
(The guardian of the galaxy 2, Baby groot is the cutest thing ever)
And while she was here we actually shot her very first video for her official YouTube channel
(more about that later xx)
On Saturday, which is a day before she had to fly back home, we decided on a whim to go to Bukit Tinggi. Bukit Tinggi is this beautiful retreat compound with a lot of attractions and some sort of small villages concept that represent foreign cultures
The one that we got time to visit is the Japanese and the French Village, which I believe is also known as Colmar Tropicale <3
I’ve been here before for a few times to take pictures or just a short visitation with some of my friends from college
But for the past 6-7 years I live in Malaysia never have I ever do one of the most touristy things to do in Bukit Tinggi, which is to take pictures with Kimono that they provide within the Japanese Village (⁎˃ᆺ˂)
And what took me by surprise is that I actually like the pictures that was taken that day, the place is beautiful and they have this cute lil house in a traditional Japanese style, so the Kimono itself doesn’t really looks out of the place
Although the guest only have around 20-30 mins time to take pictures before we had to give our kimono back, due to there are many people that wanted to do the same and the house itself its pretty small (I believe my 2 bedroom apartment is bigger than that, cant say that its prettier tho lol)
We had dinner there in one of the beautiful cafe they have before driving back to the town, and after a lil freshen up at my place we hit Marini’s on 57
This place is one of my favorite place to bring someone who rarely visited KL, because lets be honest they will want that “petronas backdrop” in their pictures
After a bottle of vin blanc, 3-4 hours of sleep, and some fish&chips for breakfast, I sent her back to the airport right where I picked her up
It’s always interesting to play host for people from Indonesia in KL, which I did a couple of times for my best friends from high school and a couple of family members..
Kinda gives me a perspective on how much I know this place that I’ve been living, and for a moment you blend as an insider instead of observing Kuala Lumpur as an outsider…
Hope you guys enjoy reading this as much as we enjoyed our weekend!
